Glued Laminated Timber
Glued laminated timber is made of several, 40 mm thick layers (minimum 3) of kiln dried and planed softwood glued together with their fibres parallel to one another using weatherproof glues. Glued laminated timber by Eugen Decker Holzindustrie KG is available in whitewood (spruce), redwood, Douglas fir or Larch. The single layers are finger-jointed and glued together up to the requested height.
Due to the rigid connection between the single layers, those structural timber components have extremely high technical and static qualities.
The use of Glued Laminated Timber has many advantages:
- extremely high rigidity and good deformation ratio
- extremely load-bearing combined with a low weight
- high level of structural strengths in case of fire
- high quality surface in visible quality
- no torsions
- no necessity of chemical wood preservatives due to kiln drying
- good mechanical workability
